I asked my friend how her mother was doing. My friend's mom was the coolest mom ever and a really special person. Unfortunately her mom has disc problems in her spine causing chronic back pain. No insurance, no pain relief. You see where this is going.

Someone who could definitely improve her quality of life with the benefits of medical marijuana. Unfortunately, their state has not legalized medical cannabis.

My friend's mother is unable to get any pain relief, she's gone to 20 doctors but none will prescribe painkillers. And it's probably a good thing. IMHO, I think prescription pain killers are a much bigger danger than medical marijuana.

And as a result, my friend's dear mother is depressed (wouldn't you be if you had chronic pain?) and spends the majority of her time in bed. And that type of inactivity is the cause of even more health problems. It's an endless downward spiral.

I don't think the benefits of marijuana can be overstated. Last month I suffered another headache that lasted for four days. I wanted to see if over the counter ibuprofen or my prescription for Sumatriptan would be effective. They weren't

On the fourth day of sharp pain behind my left eye, I pulled out my pipe and medicated (Jack Flash). Was it effective? It was.

Not only did the benefits of marijuana get rid of my headache, it did it instantly. No joke. After the first hit I could feel the pain literally start to dissipate and fade away. I couldn't believe it.

There is no question in my mind that the benefits of medical marijuana far outweigh any perceived "danger". And there is no question in my mind that I'll never go four days with a headache in the name of (inexact) science again! And frankly, the pharmaceutical companies are a much bigger danger to public safety than medical marijuana.

No doubt there are some life saving science and better living through chemicals. But there is also no doubt that the benefits of medical marijuana are legit.
